Eligibility
You can check if you're eligible when you apply.

What you need
Your application must include:
- a passport style photo
- proof of identity
- proof of address (this must be up to date, and cannot be the same as proof of identity)
- proof of eligibility (if you automatically qualify)
- proof of diagnosed conditions (if you do not automatically qualify)
- £10 administration fee
Apply
You can apply for yourself, someone else or an organisation.
It's easiest to do this online. You can:
- check if you're eligible right away
- upload your evidence, photos and documents quickly and simply – you can also contact us online to send these to us separately
- start the application and finish it later – using the reference number provided to you
- pay online using a debit or credit card – secure and refundable if your application is unsuccessful
- track the progress of your application
- apply for an organisational badge, if you meet the requirements for an organisation
If you can't do this online, you can also apply by post.
Current timescales
It can take up to 12 weeks to process your application. This can be longer if an expert or walking assessment is needed.
To avoid delay, make sure your application includes everything listed under 'What you need'.
