Free bus passes for disabled people

Coronavirus: bus service and concessionary travel disruption

Bus services may be altered or reduced due to the Coronavirus situation. Whilst known information will be published on the buses Temporary Change page, it is suggested that you contact the operator or visit their website or social media, before travelling.

To assist the elderly and disabled who may be travelling by bus for an essential journey we have asked bus operators in Surrey to allow free travel for holders of disabled/older persons concessionary bus passes before 9.30am.

Update:

The following bus companies have advised that they will no longer be able to continue to offer free travel before 9.30am:

  • From 18 March 2021: Compass and Stagecoach
  • From 29 March 2021: Arriva
  • From 19 April 2021: Safeguard Coaches

Free Bus Pass applications and renewals

Please see temporary changes to free bus pass applications and renewals for more information.

Please note: Libraries are not processing bus pass applications; the service remains paused.

A free bus pass allows Surrey residents (aged 5 - older persons eligible age) with eligible disabilities to travel on buses free of charge.

It's valid between 9.30am and 11pm from Monday to Friday, and at any time on weekends and public holidays.
