M25 closure 10 to 13 May

Planned weekend closures on the M25

National Highways has announced that the latest closure of the M25 linked to the works at Wisley Interchange will be in both directions from junction 9 at Leatherhead to junction 10 at Wisley, and run from 9pm on Friday 10 May to 6am on Monday 13 May.

The main diversion will take drivers travelling clockwise off the M25 at junction 8 at Reigate, travelling north past Tadworth and Ewell to join the A3 at Tolworth, before rejoining the M25 at Wisley. An alternative route for high-sided vehicles will come off at junction 9 at Leatherhead and go through Malden Rushett and Esher before joining the A3 at Painshill. These routes are reversed when travelling anti-clockwise. Drivers travelling longer distances will be advised to travel the opposite way around the M25 to avoid the Surrey stretch of the motorway.

National Highways have advised that drivers using the signed diversion route won't be subject to any Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charges that may usually apply. The Ultra Low Emission Zone will remain in force on all other routes in London across the weekend.

We expect there will be a higher volume of traffic in areas surrounding the diversion route. Local journeys in Reigate, Tadworth, Ewell, Leatherhead and Esher may take longer than usual. If you live locally, please consider this when making plans, and check for traffic updates before travelling.

Please visit National Highways website for full diversion route information.

The main work this time is to install a new bridge, which means the work is more weather dependent. As cranes are needed to lift the heavy bridge

Previous closure and travel advice

The closure in March was so successful due to members of the public changing their travel plans, avoiding the area and using alternative methods of transport where possible. We encourage drivers to continue listening to National Highways travel advice ahead of the May weekend closure.

We are still expecting traffic and travel disruption, so please consider this when making plans, and check for traffic updates before travelling.

Full details will be available on the National Highways website. Please keep checking this page for the latest information.

Surrey Day

Surrey Day is set to return on Saturday 11 May, bringing together the area's towns, villages and attractions in recognition of our fantastic county. Whilst the M25 is closed, take the opportunity to discover what's on your doorstep and get involved with some of the great local events taking place. For more information head to the Visit Surrey website.

About the Wisley interchange works

The junction 10 improvement scheme will see an increase in the number of lanes to make journeys safer and new junction layout to improve traffic flow. It will also make it easier and safer to enter and exit the M25, and reduce the pollution caused by traffic jams.
M25 and A3 overnight and weekend closures

National Highways is planning further overnight and full weekend closures on either the A3 or M25 over the coming months. Drivers are advised to check the National Highways website for the latest dates when making plans and before travelling.
