Book a computer in a library

Booking a computer

You can book a PC in one of our libraries in advance by using the PC booking system.

High speed internet computers are available in all the libraries.

Please note that, due to IT processes, all computers are shut down 15 minutes before library closing time.

Can children use the computers?

If you are under 16 years of age you will need your parent or carer to either sign a permission form or to use the computer with you.

What can you use the computers for?Computers for public use in the library

The computers are all connected to the internet. You can surf the web, search for information, send or receive email. However, internet access at the library is filtered, so the filter may occasionally block sites of interest. Why not use our computers for independent study following a course of your choosing? There are also word processing and other office programmes for you to use.

If you haven't used the internet before

If you are not familiar with the internet, library staff can help you get started and can help you search for information. You could also book a Digital Buddy, to help you get started.

Adult Learning run classes throughout the year and you can search their list of courses online.

Can you print pages from the internet?

Yes, there is a charge for printing:

All libraries have black and white printers, not all have colour. Check our list of Surrey libraries for details.

  • 25p per side for black and white (A4 or A3)
  • 50p per side for colour (A4 or A3)

Can you use USB drives in the computers?

Yes, work can be saved to USB drives.

Print from your own device

You can now print documents from your own device such as a laptop or mobile phone.

Log in to the PC booking system, using your library card number and PIN, and follow the instructions.

Once submitted, your files will be securely processed and prepared for printing within the next few minutes.

You can then pay for and collect your print jobs at one of the self service kiosks or by speaking to a member of staff in your nearest library.

Your print job will then be available for the next 3 hours. Printing charges apply and are paid at point of collection.

Please note that this service is not available at the following libraries: Bagshot, Bramley Byfleet, Ewell Court, Lingfield, New Haw, Stoneleigh, Tattenhams, Virginia Water and Warlingham libraries.
