A3 Electric Town and Cities initiative (ETCI) air quality scheme
We know that pollution levels along the Guildford stretch of the A3 are poor and need improving which is why we're working in partnership with Guildford Borough Council to deliver a £11 million National Highways scheme to reduce pollution.
In addition to offering commercial van owners a financial incentive to replace their diesel vehicles with electric vans, chargepoints near the A3 will also be expanded to accommodate the increased number of electric vans, as well as an active travel programme to work with employers to help their employees make more sustainable travel choices for their journey to work.
You can find out more about the scheme on the A3 electric vehicle grant funding programme webpage.
E-bikes
We have introduced an e-bike share scheme in Guildford in partnership with Guildford Borough Council and the University of Surrey. There will be at least 300 bikes and 60 dock locations. The scheme will expand the accessibility of public transport, linking Guildford town centre to travel hubs, places of interest, shopping centres, and education and leisure facilities. To book a bike, visit the Beryl Guildford website.
Electric vehicles and our on-street chargepoint rollout
Since 2019 we have been rolling out public chargepoints across the county to enable electric vehicle ownership, particularly in areas with limited off-street parking. To date, we have installed 43 sockets across 14 sites in the Guildford urban area.
Since March 2023, we have been working closely with Connected Kerb to install thousands of public chargepoints across the county over the next 5 years, including many more in Guildford. For more information on the on-street electric vehicle chargepoints rollout please visit the Electric vehicles and our on-street chargepoint rollout webpage.
