Temporary Prohibition of Waiting Loading and Unloading Order 2023

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to –

(a) prohibit waiting, loading, and unloading at any time, by vehicles on both sides of the carriageway in the entire length of Wray Common Road (D1244) Reigate; and

(b) suspend "The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Reigate and Banstead) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting, Loading and Unloading and Revocation) Order 2013" in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in part (a) above.

This Temporary Order is required to facilitate electrical renewal/ replacement works for, or on behalf of UKPN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 6 weeks within the 12-month period of operation of this Order which commences on 25 September 2023.

The temporary restriction and suspension, which are anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed and only to such extent as indicated by those traffic signs.

Exemptions apply for vehicles when waiting because they are required by law to stop, are obliged to stop in order to prevent an accident or are prevented from proceeding because of circumstances outside the drivers control and in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or of a civil enforcement officer will apply when the temporary restrictions are in force. (N.B Disabled persons displaying a disabled blue badge will not be exempt from the temporary waiting restriction).
