Westway (D4001) Guildford
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

On 28 February 2024 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of;

(a) Westway (D4001) Guildford as extends from its junction with (D4001) Aldershot Road to its junction with (D4001) Hillspur Road

(b) Westway (D4001) Guildford as extends from its junction with (D4001) Hillspur Road to its junction with (D4001) Woodside Road; and

(c) Suspend "The Surrey County Council Westway (D4001) Guildford and Aldershot Road (D4001) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023"; and

(d) Suspend "The Surrey County Council Westway (D4001) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2023 insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (a and b) of this Notice.

The Order is required to facilitate –

(1) Electrical utility works/and or maintenance works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Connect IT Utility Services. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 5 days between the hours of 8am and 5pm commencing 11 March 2024.

Alternative Route: Westway, Southway, and (A323) Aldershot Road or this route in reverse.

(2) Replacement telegraph pole works and/or utility maintenance works to be carried out by, or on behalf of BT Openreach. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm commencing 27 March 2024.

Alternative Route: Hillspur Road and Woodside Road.

These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible within the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commence on 11 March 2024.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

For part (a) and part (b) Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.
