Various Roads in Reigate and Banstead
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.4) 2023

On 15 November 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

This Order, which will commence on 28 November 2023 for a period of 18 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of Surrey County Council, including but not limited to: carriageway/footway patching and/or carriageway/ footway surface dressing and/or carriageway/ footway resurfacing, footway slurry works, and/or major highway maintenance works.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed; and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle's owner. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route.

During certain phases of the works, vehicular access to premises may be restricted, when this is the case such restriction of access will apply for no more than eight hours within any 24-hour period.

Schedule

(a) The entire length of Bunbury Way (D1190) Epsom Downs. There is no alternative route for this closure.

(b) The entire length of Yew Tree Bottom Road (B284) Epsom Downs. Alternative Route: (B284) Burgh Heath Road, (B291) Fir Tree Road, and (A240) Reigate Road.

(c) The entire length of New Road (B290) Tadworth. Alternative Route: (B2220) Tadworth Street, (A217) Brighton Road, and (B2032) Dorking Road.
