Various Roads in Guildford
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2024
On 28 February 2024 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to
(a) temporarily prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice; and
(b) suspend "The Surrey County Council The Street (C41) West Horsley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023" insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (4) of the Schedule to this Notice.
This Order is required to facilitate detailed bridge inspection works for, or on behalf of Network Rail. These works will be carried out in 4 phases, over 1 night for each phase, (1) and (2) will be between the hours of 9pm and 5am, and (3) and (4) will be between the hours of 9.30pm and 5am within 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 13 March 2024.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Schedule
(1) that length of Ripley Lane (C40) West Horsley that is crossed under the bridge known as "Ripley Lane Bridge" (NGL 15/32) and for a distance of 15 metres either side.
Alternative Route: (C40) Ripley Lane, (C38) Guileshill Lane, (B2039) Ockham Road North, (D247) Long Reach, (C41) The Street, and (C40) Ripley Lane, or this route in reverse.
(2) that length of Merrow Lane (B2234) Guildford that is crossed under the bridge known as "Merrow Lane Bridge" (NGL 15/40) and for a distance of 15 metres either side.
Alternative Route: (B2234) New Inn Lane, (A3100) London Road, (A25) Boxgrove Road, (A25) Epsom Road, (B2234) Park Lane, and (B2234) Merrow Lane, or this route in reverse.
(3) that length of Boxgrove Road (A25) that is crossed under the bridge known as "Boxgrove Road Bridge" (NGL 15/41) and for a distance of 15 metres either side.
Alternative Route: (A25) Boxgrove Road, (A3100) London Road, (A246) Waterden Road, (A246) Epsom Road, and (A25) Boxgrove Road, or this route in reverse.
(4) that length of The Street (C41) West Horsley that is crossed under the bridge known as "The Street West Horsley Bridge" (NGL 15/30) and for a distance of 15 metres either side.
Alternative Route: (C41) The Street, (C41) East Lane, (B2039) Ockham Road North, (B2039) Ockham Road South, (A246) Guildford Road, (A246) Epsom Road, and (C41) The Street, or this route in reverse.
