Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2023

On 16 August 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of;

a) Stafford Road (D1403) Caterham as extends from a point in line with the common boundary between No.55 and No.57 Stafford Road to a point in line with the common boundary between No.67 and 67a Stafford Road and;

b) suspend "The Surrey County Council D1403 Stafford Road Caterham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023" insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (a) to this Notice.

Alternative Route: Stafford Road, Burntwood Lane, (A22) Wapses Lodge Roundabout, (B2208) Croydon Road, (B2030) The Square, (B2030) Station Avenue, and Stafford Road or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to facilitate chamber repair works for, or on behalf of Cappagh Contractors. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 2 days between the hours of 8am and 5pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 31 August 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route.

The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
