Brighton Road (A217) Burgh Heath
Temporary Speed Limit Order 2023
On 06 September 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be;
a) to prohibit vehicles from driving or proceeding at a speed greater than 30 MPH in that length of;
(a) Brighton Road (A217) Burgh Heath as extends from its junction with (D1106) Shelvers Way and for a distance of 254 metres in a northerly direction and; (b) Brighton Road (A217) Burgh Heath as extends from its junction with (C135) Waterhouse Lane and for a distance of 312 metres in a southerly direction and;
c) Suspend "The Borough of Reigate and Banstead (A217 Brighton Road, Burgh Heath/ Lower Kingswood) (40m.p.h Speed Limit) Order 1996" and/or any Speed Limit Order made or having effect as if made under Sections 82, 83 and/or 84 of the Act insofar as affects that length of Brighton Road (A217) Burgh Heath.
This Temporary Traffic Order is required to facilitate refurbishment on signal traffic works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 10 days and completed as soon as possible, within the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 18 September 2023.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary speed limit which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 or in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of the Police.
