Surrey Local Flood Risk Management Strategy

Contents

Introduction

As the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) for Surrey, we are responsible for publishing a Local Flood Risk Management Strategy (PDF). This document sets out how we manage the risk of flooding across the county.

The County Council is designated as LLFA under the Flood and Water Management Act (2010). The Act states that an LLFA has a duty to "develop, maintain, apply and monitor a Strategy for local flood risk management in its area".

Flood Strategy Refresh

Surrey's Local Flood Risk Management Strategy (PDF) was published in 2017 for the period 2017-2032. The strategy was refreshed in 2025 to be consistent with the National Flood Risk Management Strategy, last updated in 2020.

If you have any questions regarding the Strategy, or wish to view it in an accessible format, please contact us at flooding.enquiries@surreycc.gov.uk.

Flood Impact Report

In order to demonstrate how the Surrey Flood Risk Partnership Board is meeting the objectives of our strategy, we have produced the Impact Report for the Surrey Local Flood Risk Management Strategy 2024 to 2025 (PDF). This report will be updated after the end of each financial year.
