What is it?
Once you have registered a death, you can use the UK government's 'Tell us Once' service.
This is an online tool that allows you to notify several government and council services in one go, such as HMRC tax, council benefits and others.
Use the Tell Us Once service (GOV.UK)
You can still use the service. To do so, you will need to:
- Get a reference from the Coroner. They should provide you with a nine digit reference number that looks like '12345-2021'. The last four digits indicate the year of issue.
- Contact the registrar, providing this reference. You can call on 0300 200 1002.
- Wait for the registrar to send you a reference number (a 12 digit code).
- Go to the GOV.UK Tell Us Once page and complete the online form.
