Car parks and on-street parking bays

Off-street car parks

Car parks are managed by your district or borough council:

You can see locations of car parks on our traffic and travel map.

On-street parking bays

In many areas there are on-street parking bays. Some of these are designated for specific users, for example resident parking permit holders or blue badge holders, some of them are time limited, so you can only park for a certain amount of time and some are paid for parking bays, where the time you can park is usually limited and you also need to make a payment (see below for more information).  Read the sign adjacent to the bay to see the conditions of use. You can also see the locations and types of bay on the maps of our on street parking restrictions online.

On-street paid for parking bays

In these bays, payment  can be made either by using the RingGo parking app or by cash at a pay & display machine, where available.

In Guildford town centre, we have recently decommissioned some of the pay and display machines. This is the start of a project to replace the pay and display machines in the town with more modern versions, with extra payment options. Most of the existing machines have reached the end of their life span and are becoming increasingly difficult to repair and maintain. By taking the less frequently used ones out of service, we can not only reduce the maintenance burden, but it will also help us decide the best locations for the replacement machines.  Please see  the document Guildford pay and display machines (PDF) at the bottom of the page for a map showing the locations of the pay and display machines still in operation in Guildford.
