- Walton-on-Thames
And there will soon be car club cars in Egham, Staines and Farnham.
Special membership offer for Surrey residents
Enterprise Car Club - Surrey are offering all Surrey residents reduced price membership of just £10 per year (normally £60) for the first two years, plus a £10 driving credit when you join.
What are car clubs?
Car clubs are a simple alternative to owning a car. They let you use a car only when you need one, and you pay as you go. Instead of buying your own vehicle, you can book a nearby car online, by phone, or through an app.
Being a member means you don’t have to worry about the high costs of buying a car, or paying for insurance, servicing, and repairs.
Easy access to a range of new vehicles
Members can use any car in the Enterprise Car Club fleet. In Surrey, these cars are parked in special car club spaces, so you always know where to pick them up and return them.
There are different types and sizes of cars available, all less than four years old. Some are electric vehicles, which produce very low emissions.
Environmental benefits
Car clubs don’t just help members—they also help the environment and local communities. They support council plans to reduce traffic, improve air quality, and encourage greener ways of travelling.
Studies show that one car club vehicle can replace up to 10 private cars. People who join car clubs often drive less and choose to walk, cycle, or use public transport more often.
Car club cars also produce over 33% less carbon dioxide per kilometre than the average UK car. Because many people share one car, fewer parking spaces are needed, which reduces pressure on streets.
How much does it cost?
There is usually a small joining fee. After that, you pay around £4.50 to £5.50 per hour, depending on the car, plus about 21p per mile driven.
If you only need a car now and then (rather than every day), using a car club can save you a lot of money compared to owning a car.
For business
Car clubs can also work well for businesses. Companies can share cars between employees instead of everyone using their own vehicles for work trips. This can save money, improve efficiency, and make travel safer.
