Do you know someone who is kind, reliable and a team player? We need more staff to work with us as Care and Reablement Assistants in locations across Surrey. The Refer a Friend Scheme for Care and Reablement Assistants is part of our goal to attract people who champion our Strengths Based Practice Model and focus on what our residents can do rather than on what they can't.
Who is eligible for refer a friend payment?
- You must be employed by Surrey County Council on Surrey terms and conditions of service, or
- You are a former Anchor employee who has been transferred to Surrey County Council by TUPE
- You refer someone to apply for a Care Assistant or Reablement Assistant role who is successfully appointed from 24 February 2020 onwards.
Who is not eligible?
- You are not an employee (for example, members, partners, agency workers)
- You are a member of staff who is part of the recruitment process (such as recruitment or HR professionals)
How does the person I am referring apply for a post?
Applicants submit their CV and cover letter and confirm the name of the friend who is a current SCC employee.

How do I apply for my reward for the refer a friend scheme?
Once your friend is offered a position and has a start date, send an email to Service Delivery Recruitment to confirm you were the referrer along with their start date.
What else do I need to know?
You are entitled to a maximum payment of £250 for referring someone to the council for employment. This is subject to tax and NI deductions.
You will be paid the £250 incentive in two parts:
- £150 once your friend starts work with in the role
- £100 after your friend is employed for three months
Payments will be paid directly into your bank account.
Terms and conditions
You must still be employed three months after your friend starts so the second payment can be processed into your salary.
The person being referred must still be employed when the second payment is made.
Individuals will be matched to vacancies for interview. Previous members of staff can be referred if there is a minimum of six months break in their employment with the council.
All payments need confirmation the person referred has gone through a successful recruitment process and you are a Surrey County Council member of staff. Heads of service will need to approve the payment.
There is no tie-in or a claw back period for the scheme unless payment was made in error or in circumstances contravening the key conditions.
