We’ve recently developed our Safer Surrey approach; a whole system, strength-based approach, that works on the belief that children and their families have the strengths, resources and ability to recover from adversities.
The approach marks a new way of working across the Children, Schools and Families Directorate and relies on each and every member of staff sharing the same understanding of our values, the way we work with families and what constitutes needs and risk.
Safer Surrey has its roots in solution-focused brief therapy and creates a common language used by all professionals. The different language used to describe difficulties and struggles allows us to begin to see opportunities, hope and solutions.
