What is fostering?

Thank you for taking the first step towards finding out about fostering with Surrey County Council.

Our foster carers provide safe, secure and nurturing homes for children in Surrey when they can’t live with their own families. This might be for a few days, months or until a child is 18, depending on the different circumstances.

Over 64,000 children are living with almost 55,000 foster families. The Fostering Network estimates more than 9000 new foster homes are needed in the next 12 months, so all fostered children can live with the right family for them. Surrey is constantly recruiting new foster carers so we can continue to provide the right homes for those children in Surrey that come into our care.

There are many different ways you can foster. Find out which fostering is right for you and how to get in touch with our team to talk about becoming a foster carer with us.

Could you make a difference to a child's life today?
