Improving special educational needs and disability services

Surrey 's Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Services were last inspected by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to judge the effectiveness of the area in implementing the disability and special educational needs reforms as set out in the Children and Families Act 2014 in October 2016. The outcome of the inspection is available in the published findings letter. As a consequence, Surrey produced the Surrey SEND written statement of action (PDF), which set out the additional focused activity to address the issues raised. We continue to work closely with our partners from Ofsted and the Department for Education on our services for children and young people with SEND and will be inspected again as part of the normal inspection cycle.

Surrey Special Educational Needs and Disability Partnership Strategy 2019-2022

Following our consultation in January 2019, we published our SEND Strategy 2019-2022 to give you an insight into how we plan on improving the educational, health and emotional wellbeing for all of Surrey's children and young people with special educational needs.

We continue to invite children and young people with SEND, their families, and the people who work with them, to engage with us in shaping and evaluating our improvements as we go and will publish details of further consultations and events through our Local Offer site
