RAISE – Raising Awareness in Schools through Experience
This project aims to deliver presentations to schools in a classroom setting or assemblies to talk about SEND/emotional health & wellbeing. This is done through interactive exercises and incorporating their real life stories into a learning context and reducing the stigma amongst young people.
Our Perspective – Training day for professionals such as Social workers, SEND practitioners and Co-ordinators
Young people are trained to facilitate service user perspective training and service user involvement training. These training sessions are mandatory for all CAMHS staff. There are also adapted courses for admin and HOPE staff. Furthermore, there is a SEND version of this training and an All Age LD & Autism version launching in March and April 2019.
Recruit Crew – Training young people to be a part of an interview panel to help recruit professionals for children’s services
Children and young people are trained to take part in the recruitment and induction of staff across emotional wellbeing roles and SEND related roles and services in Surrey. Young people’s involvement in interviewing of CAMHS staff is a mandatory part of the recruitment process.
Residential Trips – The residentials are there to provide young people to practice for SYAS Awards
Every year we hold two residential’s: one is in October and we use it to deliver training to young people so that they can get involved in all of our projects. For example: Recruit Crew, Our Perspective and the SYAS group. The second residential is held in April and it is where we rehearse for the annual SYAS Awards.
