In the event of an accident or other emergency, a carer's emergency card lets people know about your caring responsibilities so that the person you look after will be taken care of.
The card is provided free of charge. It includes emergency contact numbers for two friends or neighbours, who may be contacted to step in to help and should be carried in your bag or wallet at all times.
You can ask for a card even of you:
- don't live with the person you care for
- are not the only person providing care to someone
- are caring for more than one person
- are not related to the person you care for.
