Accommodation with care and support commissioning statements

Coronavirus: support and information

If you need help during the coronavirus outbreak, please see our coronavirus webpages.

You can find details of our community helpline and other ways to get support on our I need help page, and there's also help and support if you are self isolating.

Now and in the coming years, Surrey County Council faces unprecedented financial challenges in meeting care and support needs in Surrey.

In response to some of these challenges our accommodation with care and support strategy (PDF) sets out the overarching approach for all accommodation based services we commission and provide for residents of Surrey, for the next 20 years.

To deliver this strategy we will work with partners to plan for the right types of accommodation for Surrey residents, in appropriate locations, to ensure the safeguarding of our vulnerable elderly whilst also maximising value for money.

A similar analysis of accommodation with care and support needs has been conducted for people with mental health and/or substance misuse needs (PDF).

Commissioning statements for older people's accommodation with care, residential and nursing care

A series of commissioning statements are being developed at a Borough and District level. These will assist prospective developers, care providers and local Planning Authorities by:

  • Stating the implications of Surrey County Council's accommodation with care strategic direction on future developments focused on supporting older people
  • Outlining Surrey County Council's minimal development expectations around extra care
  • Setting out Surrey County Council's current understanding of future needs for extra care housing, residential care and nursing care to 2028 and beyond

As we receive these commissioning statements we will attach them below:
