Information about schools funding and budgets has moved and can now been accessed through the Surrey Education Services Hub. Please make sure you bookmark the link above and use that in future.
Every Surrey maintained schools is given a budget, calculated using a funding formula set locally within a government-set framework. Surrey academies may also find this guidance useful as their budgets are based on Surrey's school funding formula with some modifications (for example they are based on the academic year not the financial year). School headteachers and governors can influence this local funding formula through the statutory Schools Forum and a range of local consultation groups.
Resources are given to schools for the general purposes of the school, including eligible community purposes. Each governing body is free to decide how their budgets are used in line with the Surrey Scheme for Financing Schools and more detailed schools finance manual.
Schools may also be able to apply for additional funding for educational projects from the Surrey Educational Trust.
Individual budgets are securely emailed to headteachers and school business managers/bursars/administrative officers in February each year. Detailed guidance notes are also provided.
