Disposal of playing field land at Broadwater School Godalming
Surrey County Council
Proposed disposal of playing field land
Section 77 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998
Notice is hereby given, under Section 77 of the School Standard and Framework Act 1998, that Surrey County Council intends to apply to the Secretary of State for Education for consent to dispose of approximately 3,830 square metres of surplus land adjoining playing fields at Broadwater School, Summers Road, Godalming, Surrey, GU7 3BW.
The disposal will be by way of the grant of a lease of 99 years to Waverley Borough Council, permitting the land's use as a car park (currently the use for part of the land). The additional parking will facilitate the development of Godalming Leisure Centre, which includes an extended gym, new studio and larger dry change, and will allow for an increase in participation to meet demand over the next 15 years.
In return for the grant of the lease, Waverley Borough Council will make an equivalent value contribution towards the cost of a new 3G pitch at Broadwater School, which will provide improved access to sporting activities for both school students and the wider community.
The notice period will run from 2 October until 13 November.
For further information regarding the proposal or to make representations please contact either Ashley Glover at Surrey County Council (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Tamsin McLeod at Waverley Borough Council (tamsin.mcLeod@waverley.gov.uk) using the reference 'Broadwater School, Godalming – Section 77 Notice' in your correspondence.
All comments and representations received before the closing date will be taken into account and submitted to the Department for Education as part of the application process.
