Advice for head lice includes the following:
- Check your child's scalp once a week with a lice detector (a fine toothed comb).
- Comb damp hair forward from the neck, over some paper. Using conditioner makes combing easier.
- Any lice or eggs will attach to the comb and damaged lice will fall onto the paper.
- If you find any lice, check all family members.
You should only treat any live lice you find. A pharmacist, school nurse or health visitor can give advice on treatments, including mild ones available without prescription.
