Supported Learning

Our Supported Learning team offers an entry-level programme of courses for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, as well as courses for those with hearing loss or those who want to learn Makaton. We are also able to offer bespoke courses to groups.

Courses for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD)

Through a range of subjects, our entry level courses are designed to:

  • Provide opportunities to practise and apply communication, reading, writing, number, and ICT skills
  • Promote community participation, engagement, and social inclusion
  • Enable independence
  • Grow confidence levels
  • Enhance employability skills
  • Provide opportunities to maintain physical and mental wellbeing

On some of our courses, learners will work towards a nationally recognised qualification. These courses are free to learners who meet the eligibility requirements.

It is important to us that learners are placed on the right course, whether they want to learn new skills or maintain existing skills, and that the support needed to get the most from their learning is agreed. We, therefore, need learners to come and meet us before joining a course. We will also need to assess the English and maths starting points of new learners.

Pre-enrolment information, advice and guidance meeting

To arrange an informal pre-enrolment information, advice and guidance meeting with one of the Supported Learning team, please contact our Customer Service Team on 0300 200 1044. They will either book the appointment for you or transfer you to the right member of the Supported Learning Team. You will be told what information you need to bring with you and this will include evidence of any benefits you receive so we can let you know if you are eligible to enrol on any other for free.
