Photography competition 2020

Surrey Adult Learning (SAL) offers great courses in photography, from beginners who are keen to learn the basic functions of Image of a pondtheir digital cameras to experienced photographers, who join us to refine and practise their skills with others who share the same passion. Our Tutors are passionate and some of our learners have moved on to set up careers in photography whilst others have been inspired to try out a new hobby, and learn new skills and join a new community.

We received a wonderful selection of inspiring photographs, including family activities, personal hobbies, time out fun, wildlife shots, technical aspects, portraits and landscapes to name a few.

This year the winning picture was voted in through by your "likes" on Facebook, which made this poll particularly special.

We are delighted to share the winning photograph with you, that portrays the natural beauty of our local Surrey countryside. The backdrop is the serenity of "a beautiful evening in Pirbright" by Tracey Marchant. Winning any competition is a boost and Tracey said "I have always loved taking pictures, but never won a competition before. I love going to this place Henley park in Pirbright. It's quiet and a lovely walk on a summer evening. Winning this competition means a lot to me and made me carry on taking more pictures and enter more competitions. And hopefully to show people you don't need a high-tech camera to take lovely pictures as my picture was taken on an iPhone."

The lake is captured under a canopy of trees with at dusk. What a calm way to spend lockdown.

Congratulations to Tracey and all those who had a go and shared their experiences during these unprecedented times.
