Surrey Adult Learning digital photography learner gets published!

Helen explains her journey with Surrey Adult Learning, attending and benefitting from digital photography courses with Tutor Geoff Young at the SAL Farnham Centre.

She said "I didn't know anything about photography before I joined the Beginners course at Farnham Adult Learning Centre January 2017. Geoff Young was our Tutor and I found him a very good teacher, we learnt about all aspects of the basics of photography. After the course had finished I progressed on to join the Improvers group which went into a lot more detail about photography; again Geoff was our Tutor. While I was on the course I developed an interest in water drops and liquid photography which I have been learning a lot more about since the course finished last June. I've had a lot of people wanting to buy my photographs too."

"I read 'Photoplus,' the Canon magazine, and each month they have an apprentice feature where an amateur photographer works with a professional in the field that they are interested in. So I asked if I could do it and was accepted! I was sent to work with David Lund who is a liquid photographer (of the Bailey's advert with all the swirly cream). I had a thoroughly enjoyable time and we photographed various types of liquids; David taught me all about how he does the lighting and the processing after. This time last year I would never have imagined that I would be appearing in a magazine, let alone on a 12 page feature. I wonder what this year will bring! I've still got a lot to learn but I just wanted to say thank you to Geoff my photography Tutor and Surrey Adult Learning for offering the courses."

Helen shares her pride in being published in a reputable photography magazine; some examples of her work can be seen on her Facebook page.
