Build your confidence using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in everyday life, at home, and at work.
Our AI course will help you understand how Generative AI works and how tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot can be used safely and effectively. The course focuses on practical, everyday tasks to help you save time, support productivity, and explore creative ideas.
You will learn how to use AI for tasks such as drafting emails, summarising information, brainstorming ideas, creating images, and managing everyday projects. You will also explore how to write effective prompts using the Persona, Context, and Task approach.
The course will also help you understand the limitations of AI, including inaccurate information, data privacy risks, and how to use AI safely and responsibly online.
You will focus on the free versions of these AI tools, while also learning what paid subscriptions may offer.
Enrolments open every term in March, July and November. If courses have already started, you may still be able to join, so please contact us.

Course levels
This course is suitable for beginners and adults with limited experience using Artificial Intelligence.
It is ideal for anyone who is curious about AI and would like to use technology to support everyday life, home management, creativity, or employment.
Learners should be able to use a computer, mouse, and keyboard before joining this course. If you are completely new to personal computers (PC), please look at our Windows PC Digital Skills and Confidence Stage 1 course first.
Discounts and support with fees
We have many discounts and fee support options. These include money off your first course if you are a library member, Surrey Heritage user, or over 66.
We include a small charge in the fees. It covers the cost of materials used by tutors for demonstrations. The fee does not include the cost of materials and equipment used by learners, unless stated otherwise. If you have any questions, please ask when enrolling. We advise you not to buy extra materials for a course until your enrolment is confirmed.
