About This Subject

Build your confidence using digital devices and the internet with our Essential Digital Skills courses.

You will gain the skills and knowledge needed to navigate today’s digital world and work towards a national qualification at Entry 3 or Level 1.

These courses support adults who want to develop digital skills for everyday life, work or further study.

Before you enrol, you will need to attend an information, advice and guidance session. This will help us check that the course level is right for you.

This is a fully funded course. You will need to attend every session and complete an assessment at the end of the course.

Enrolments open every term in March, July and November. If courses have already started you may still be able to join so please contact us.

Course Levels and application

No previous formal qualifications are required.

Entry 3 is suitable for adults with little or no prior experience of using digital devices or the internet. It focuses on developing digital skills for everyday life and introduces skills for work.

Level 1 is suitable for adults who have some experience of using digital devices and the internet but would like to strengthen their basic digital skills. It focuses mainly on skills for work, with some focus on skills for everyday life.

Entry requirements include the completion of a written and an online initial assessment and an interview. You must not use artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT to complete the application form.

Eligibility criteria for our Employability and Digital Skills courses

Digital skills courses at Surrey Adult Learning are free for adults aged 19 or over on the 31 August 2026 who meet the following eligibility criteria.
