Get to grips with a foreign language! If you want to try something new and pick up some basic phrases, then this is the ideal course for you.
What will you learn?
During this course, you will learn simple, practical language that you can use to survive in another country. We will cover:

- Numbers 1-100
- Essential food and drink
You’ll get plenty of practice in pairs and groups to learn to speak in sentences and develop your listening skills.
Who is this course for? Is there anything you need to know before joining?
This course is planned with the absolute beginner in mind, so you do not need any previous knowledge of the language.
It corresponds to the lower A1 Beginner level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages.
For more information, please see our guide to levels for modern foreign languages.
What do you need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
We recommend bringing a pen and paper to every lesson, so you can make notes.
Your tutor will also advise you of any required course books, which typically cost £20-35. They will also be able to recommend other optional resources that you may find useful for your learning.
What can you do when you finish the course?
Your tutor will advise you on the options available at the end of the course.
