Course overview

Course intent

Pathway to Wellbeing courses are for adults with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The courses provide a reassuring space to connect with others, learn new skills and create delicious meals for yourself, your family and friends. The experience will help you improve your sense of wellbeing.

Travel around the world without leaving your kitchen! In this course you will learn to prepare dishes from Canada to Australia, Nigeria to Brazil, taking inspiration from specialities traditionally enjoyed around the world. Your tutor will work with you on developing your skills to increase your choices when cooking at home.

What will I learn?

The course includes cooking recipes for main courses, desserts, snacks and light meals, to appeal to adults and children.

By the end of the course, you will:

1. Develop new skills in safe and effective food preparation and cooking to use at home

2. Identify which skills and equipment are needed for various recipes

3. Be able to follow a recipe and adapt it based on your available ingredients and budget

4. Gain confidence in preparing dishes using the skills you have learnt

5. Experiment with approaches to wellbeing that can be integrated into your daily life

This course takes place over several sessions so you will make the most progress if you attend every lesson and complete any home practice that is suggested.
