Course overview

Course intent

Pathway to Wellbeing courses are for adults with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The courses provide a reassuring space to connect with others, learn new skills and create something new. The experience will help you improve your sense of wellbeing.

Everyone can draw, paint, and create patterns. You will learn a variety of techniques to bring out the creative artist in you and enable you to develop your own unique artistic style. You will learn to use pencils, charcoal, paints, and other less traditional media, to play with line and texture, colour and light, to create uplifting artwork.

What will I learn?

By the end of the course, you will:

1. Use line drawing and mark-making to create images

2. Use simple colour theory and paint mixing to create paintings

3. Start working on small scale paper and progress to larger scale work

4. Create drawings and paintings for your own portfolio or to proudly hang at home

5. Build your confidence in your personal artistic vision.

6. Experiment with approaches to wellbeing that can be integrated into your daily life

This course takes place over several sessions, so you will make the most progress if you attend every lesson and complete any home practice that is suggested.
