Course intent
This workshop is designed for those with prior soldering experience. Chain, sea glass, and silver are included. You will design and fabricate a silver pendant incorporating a selected piece of sea glass. The session will focus on accurate measuring, setting techniques, and finishing processes to produce a wearable pendant.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
- Measuring: Ensure a correct fit and proportion for the sea glass and pendant size.
- Sawing and cutting: Use a jeweller’s saw to cut the silver accurately to your design.
- Filing and shaping: Refine edges, smooth surfaces, and shape the silver to create a clean finish.
- Bezel making: Create a bezel setting to securely hold the sea glass in place.
- Rub-over setting: Learn the rub-over setting technique to finish the bezel neatly and securely.
- Polishing and finishing: Apply the final polish to achieve a wearable piece of jewellery.
