Course intent
Jazz dancing increases strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance. The full-bodied nature of jazz dance develops arm strength from floor work, leg strength from jumps, and core strength from coordinating the limbs.
Jazz dance can greatly improve your sense of rhythm and physical coordination, due to its many and varied timing and rhythm changes as well as the frequently rapid pace of its movements through complex steps, sequences, and patterns.
What will I learn?
You will be learning: · Basic jazz steps, terminology, sequences & combinations, building to a choreographed routine · Jazz walks, runs, and basic jazz turns and leaps. · Essential jazz techniques of knowing where the body’s weight should be.

This course is open to all, from complete beginners to those who are wanting to refresh or build their skills
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
What you need to bring/purchase: · You can choose to purchase jazz shoes or dance in bare feet. · You will need to wear clothing that you can easily move. · Please bring a bottle of drinking water. There are fountains to refill in the centre. . All learners must click on the link below, complete and submit before the first class.

What can I do when I finish the course?
In discussion with your tutor, we would encourage learners to reenrol for the next term.
Alternatively, we have other dance courses which may compliment this course and other fitness courses.
