In this one-day workshop, you will learn a range of basic methods of watercolour painting through the use of photographs or direct observation, and help to develop your creativity
What will we cover?
The 5-hour session will include:
This workshop will explore painting with pastels, trying the different types of pastels and pastel pencils available and explaining the tint system used with artists' pastels that can help when mixing and blending lighter colours. We will investigate the influence of paper colour and texture on our pictures and a variety of mark making, colour mixing and blending techniques. Please bring any pastels or pastel pencils, pastel paper (like Ingres or Murano papers) and fixative to the class, although materials will be available if you have not tried pastels before. There will be a choice of subjects drawn, including landscapes, figures or animals from secondary sources and still life from observation following demonstrations by the tutor. If you have any images that you are keen to work from in your paintings, please bring them along
