Course intent
Whether you are a beginner or already have some experience of drawing & watercolour, you will learn the knowledge and skills needed to develop and expand your range of techniques and design skills, gaining a deeper understanding of the range processes. What will we cover?
You will be taught step-by-step with tutor demonstrations of techniques with all learners able to view each stage of a drawing and watercolour technique before trying it themselves.
You will learn a range of drawing and painting techniques including
- Perspective
- Proportion
- light and shade (tonal work)
and will cover subjects like
- still life
- portrait
- landscape
- animal painting
- an A3 pad of 300gsm watercolour (the tutor uses rough)
- a 0.5mm mechanical pencil (preferably 2H leads) an eraser
- and if possible watercolour paints (the tutor uses St.Petersburg White Nights pans).

All abilities, beginners welcome.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
For the first class please bring
The tutor will give you a full list of materials during the first lesson and will discuss how to tailor this to your budget.
The tutor will provide all pictures and objects you will need to draw.
What can I do when I finish the course?
In discussion with your tutor you may like to progress onto the Friday Watercolour Painting – Improvers class in Farnham or explore more drawing with this tutor’s Drawing - How to Draw Anything & Everything – All Abilities course or explore illustration in his Drawing & Illustration (all abilities). You may wish to try life drawing class or enroll on a taster session on a Saturday
