About Pathway to Wellbeing

Surrey Adult Learning’s Pathway to Wellbeing programme forms part of our Tailored Learning offer. It is designed for adults who are currently experiencing, or recovering from, mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing challenges. The courses are intended to support recovery and wellbeing and can complement existing self-care strategies or treatment plans.

Delivered in a supportive and nurturing environment, the programme provides an opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence, connect with others, and enjoy a positive focus each week.


Course intent

Lebanese cooking

Travel around the world without leaving your kitchen! In this course you will learn to prepare dishes from Canada to Australia, Nigeria to Brazil, taking inspiration from specialities traditionally enjoyed around the world. Your tutor will work with you on developing your skills to increase your choices when cooking at home. The intent of this course is for you to improve your sense of wellbeing through cookery.

This course is for adults who are currently experiencing, or recovering from, mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing challenges. Come and join one of our courses where you can connect with others, learn new skills and create delicious meals for yourself, your family and friends.

What will I learn?

The course includes cooking main courses, desserts, snacks and light meals, including both sweet and savoury recipes to appeal to adults and children.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Develop new skills in safe and effective food preparation and cooking to use at home
  • Identify which skills and equipment are needed for various recipes
  • Be able to follow a recipe and adapt it based on your available ingredients and budget
  • Gain confidence in preparing dishes using the skills you have learnt
  • Experiment with approaches to wellbeing that can be integrated into your daily life

As this course takes place over several sessions, you will find you make the most progress if you attend every lesson and complete any home practice that is suggested.

You can enrol online or by phone (0300 200 1044) or at one of our centres. When enrolling, please let us know that you are currently experiencing, or recovering from, mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing challenges.  Once enrolled, you will be contacted by our Learner Support Coordinator who will speak to you about your individual needs and circumstances relating to learning.

Existing Pathway to Wellbeing learners will be contacted towards the end of term with next steps.

Enrolments are accepted up until the course is full or before the start date. However, if you missed the start of this term and you want to join the next group please contact our Learner Support Team to register your interest.
