Lipreading and Living with Hearing Loss bus visits Sunbury Centre

Local people talk to experts about lipreading and hearing loss inside the mobile unitTowards the end of last term, Sunbury Centre had the mobile resource centre from First Point to visit all day.  Parked at the front of the building and supported by some local advertising, there was a constant stream of visitors throughout the day.

On show were many pieces of adaptive equipment to help people with varying degrees of hearing loss to make their lives easier, from louder doorbells through visual and vibrating alerts, to personal listeners.  First hand advice was given by experts, and many visitors were referred on for further help by a visit to their homes to assess the best equipment for them.

The Lip Reading and Living with Hearing Loss class had a class talk and demonstration, during which they were able to ask questions. They all visited the bus at various times during day. All agreed it provided a very successful event.
