Chertsey pop-up trail

Something brand new is popping up across Chertsey this summer.

From 20 July until 13 September 2026, you can take part in our fun, family-friendly interactive activity trail.

Along the way, you’ll find new ‘parklets’: beautiful, green spaces to meet friends or just pause in nature.

Through our partnership with BetterPoints, you can collect rewards for taking part.

Supported by Active Surrey and funded by Active Travel England, this initiative is a great way to connect with your local area, whether you’re stepping out to run errands or just enjoying being outdoors during summer holidays.

Bugs and Blooms Activity Trail

Our interactive trail offers ways to explore your local area. Along the routes, you’ll find creative, nature-inspired activities with fun challenges for the young or young at heart.

There’s no set order to follow — simply visit any activity location that catches your eye. The pink route on the activity trail map is there as a suggested walking trail, but you can start anywhere, choose your own route and complete as many activities as you like.

Local children and artists have worked together to create this fabulous outdoor experience for the community.

Before you start, collect your Bugs and Blooms Activity Trail Map from Chertsey Library, or if you need extra ones, email surreytransportplan@surreycc.gov.uk and we’ll send you a printable version.

Pause and Rest Parklets

We’ve created three small temporary green seating spaces that we call ‘parklets’. These can be found at:

Parklet 1 - Pycroft Road / Chilsey Green Road, KT16 9EU

Parklet 2 - Chilsey Green Road / Brookside, KT16 9EX

Parklet 3 - Free Prae Road, KT16 8EG

These are welcoming places to pause and rest. There’s seating so you can meet up with friends and family for a natter or just enjoy a stroll and take it all in.

You’ll find different colourful and captivating planting in each parklet. There’s some that support bees, butterflies and wildlife, and some that are edible and sensory for young children to explore. All plant species are low-maintenance and grow well in Surrey.

Win prizes and earn rewards

We've partnered with BetterPoints to give you even more reasons to get out and about in your community this summer.

BetterPoints is a free app that rewards you for your everyday walking trips.

Using BetterPoints is completely optional, but if you choose to use it, you'll earn points that can be spent in local cafés, exchanged for big brand vouchers, or donated to charity. You'll also have the chance to win prizes that you can use on your next adventure.

Find out more on the Chertsey BetterPoints webpage.

Get your steps in

The Chertsey Pop-Up Trail is great for fun and exploration, but it’s also a convenient way to get around town and build your daily step count.

Leave the car behind and use the routes around Chertsey to pop to the local parks or shops. You’ll hit your steps target in no time at all. You could even challenge your family and friends to stride out on a regular basis. Whether you’re taking big steps or small steps, it’s an easy and convenient way to feel happier and healthier.
