Compton Bridge replacement works
Network Rail is closing New Pond Road (B3000) from 23 April to 13 July 2018 while they replace the railway bridge.
Work is planned to replace the masonry arch bridge which carries the road over the railway. The arch structure was not designed for the current heavy vehicle loads and previous strengthening is no longer effective. The structure has been subject to frequent inspections and monitoring to ensure the continued safety of the bridge.
Replacing the bridge now will remove the risk of an unplanned closure or weight restriction which would be significantly more disruptive to road users.
There will be a clearly signed diversion route in place during these works. More detailed road diversion maps will be provided by Surrey Highways shortly. Please see the PDF below for further information or telephone our 24 hour helpline 03457 11 41 41.
