Kiln Lane, Epsom - junction improvement works

Kiln Lane/East Street (A24), Epsom - pedestrian crossing improvement works

Update 1 October

Most works are now complete, however temporary signals will remain on site until Friday 12 October. This is to allow the new signals to be commissioned and for the equipment and traffic management to be safely removed.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We are working to get the junction back to normal operation as soon as possible.

Scheme overview

Work starts on Monday 13 August for approximately six weeks to install a new push button pedestrian crossing on Kiln Lane/A24 East Street and improve the existing crossing points. There will be temporary traffic lights in place 24/7 during these works. The temporary traffic lights will be manually controlled during peak travel times to minimise disruption.

For the duration of the work, traffic from Dirdene Gardens will not be able to gain direct access to East Street – a signed diversion will be in place via Church Road.

Some overnight closures of Dirdene Gardens will also occur. During these closures a diversion route will be in place via Church Road. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses. We will update this page once we have the details of these closures.

So that we can complete this work as quickly as possible the team will also be working weekends.

Working hours will be:

  • Monday - Friday 7.30am - 5pm.
  • Saturday 8am - 4pm.
  • Sunday 9am - 4pm.
