On 24 July, Cappagh will be working in Church Road to connect a sewer for the Brooklands College development site. The work is expected to take approximately ten weeks and the road will be closed during this time between Dudley Road and Fordbridge Road with a 'hard road closure' between the access and exit of the multi-storey car park. However, access to the car park will be maintained throughout the works.
Because of the depth of the excavation and the water table level being high in the area, the contractor will have to continuously pump water out of the hole while they're working, otherwise it will keep filling with water. There are also a lot of utility services under the road which the team will have to hand excavate around so nothing is damaged. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services up to the point of the hard closure outside the Car park.
To complete the work as quickly as possible we've asked Cappagh to work extended hours which will be:
- Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm
- Saturday 8am to 5pm
- Sunday 9am to 4pm
A letter will be delivered to affected residents by the contractor, Cappagh shortly. Inland Homes, who are the developers working on this project, have organised a drop-in session between 6pm and 7pm on 17 July at their Brooklands development site office so residents can come and talk to the team and ask any questions not covered by the residents' letter.
Noise from the works site
The extended working hours have been approved by Spelthorne Borough Council's Environmental Heath Team. However, there are restrictions on when noisy works can be carried out:
- 8:00 to 18:00 hours Monday to Friday
- 9:00 to 13:00 hours Saturday
No noisy works are permitted outside of these times.
