Coronavirus: how the outbreak is affecting our roadworks and maintenance
Surrey County Council is changing its roadworks programme to help keep its workers and the public safe during the coronavirus restrictions. More information and updates can be found on our Roadworks coronavirus page.
We will be installing a new safety barrier on the central reservation of A308 Staines Road West and Kingston Road, Ashford. Work will be conducted under lane closures that will be in place for the duration of the scheme. We are aware that the A308 in Ashford is a very busy section of road and that our works will create significant traffic delays. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we ask for your patience and understanding while we complete these essential safety improvements.
- Start date: Monday 23 March
- Duration: 7 weeks
- Extent of work: School Road junction to Fordbridge roundabout
- Traffic management: Lane closures will be in place 24 hours a day / 7 days a week to facilitate our works and to ensure the safety of the travelling public and the workforce.
- Working hours: 7am – 5pm (Monday - Friday)
- Contractor: Arbus Ltd
Lane closures will extend to the east and west of the works area. This is to ensure the safety of drivers and the works site.
Due to the complex nature of our works, there will be a number of teams working on different aspects of the scheme in different locations along the length of the road. For this reason it will be necessary to have full length lane closures on both the eastbound and westbound carriageways for the duration of our works. Knowing the impact these lane closures will have on traffic flow, if opportunities arise to work with part lane closures, we will try to do so where possible.
