Reason for works

Southern Gas Networks (SGN) are constructing a new pipeline to extend the gas network in Albury.

Construction of the new pipeline will start on A248 Sherborne from the junction with A25 Shere Road to the junction with D194 New Road. The construction will continue along D194 New Road and will finish as the junction with D222 Park Road.

Traffic Management

  • A248 Sherbourne – 18 June 2018 for approximately 5 weeks
    Sherbourne will be closed from the junction with Shere Road to the junction with New Road for approximately 3 weeks from 18 June 2018. Vehicular traffic will be diverted via The Street, Chilworth Road, Dorking Road, New Road, Christmas Hill, Kings Road, Horsham Road, The Street, Shalford Road, Quarry Street, Millbrook, Onslow Street, Bridge Street, Onslow Street, York Road, Waterden Road, Epsom Road and Shere Road or this route in reverse order. Once it is safe to do so the road closure will be removed and temporary traffic signals will be deployed.
  • D194 New Road – 23 July 2018 for approximately 5 weeks
    The temporary traffic signals will move from Sherbourne into New Road. Once it is no longer safe to deploy temporary traffic signals New Road will be closed from the junction with A248 Sherbourne to the junction with D222 Park Road for approximately 4 weeks from 30 July 2018. Vehicular traffic will be diverted via Sherbourne, Shere Road, Station Road, Dorking Road, Guildford Road, Felday Road, Horsham Road, Miles Hill, Holmbury Lane, Ockley Road, Shere Road, Pitch Hill, Hound House Road, Shere Heath Road and Park Road or this route in reverse order.
  • A25 Shere Road – 27 August 2018 for approximately 4 weeks
    Connection works to the existing gas main. All works in the verge with no impact of traffic.
