A243 Leatherhead Bypass safety barrier replacement scheme

Night-time road closures

The temporary barriers will be removed over two nights this week along the northbound and southbound sides of the road. One side of the road will be closed each night to allow us to remove the temporary barriers.

Scheme overview

From Monday 4 February for seven weeks we will be replacing the safety barrier along the central reservation of A243 dual carriageway between the two M25 junction 9 roundabouts.

These works include:

  • Removing the old safety barrier which is at the end of its serviceable life
  • Installing two temporary barriers which will remain in place until the new one is installed
  • Installing a new permanent safety barrier which meets current standards.

24 hour lane closures

There will be one lane closed along the northbound carriageway and on the approaches to the M25 junction 9 roundabout at the southern end of the bypass.

The two lanes along the southbound carriageway will be narrowed but will remain open and there will be no lane closures on the approaches to the M25 junction 9 roundabout at the northern end of the bypass.

The lay-bys on each side of the road will be closed during these works for use as a site office and to store materials, equipment and recovery vehicles.
