A217 Banstead crossing traffic light refurbishment scheme

These works have a start date of Monday 5 August and will last four weeks.

What are we going to do?

We will be replacing and improving the traffic lights and pedestrian crossing at the Banstead Crossing, A217 Brighton Road at the junction with Bolters Lane, Banstead. We will be replacing all the traffic light equipment as it has become obsolete and is in poor condition. We will also be improving the pedestrian facilities.

How will this affect me?

The start date for these works is Monday 5 August. Temporary lights will be in place for 24 hours a day during the works.

During the works on the crossroads the following will be closed:

  • On 5 August for one day the left turn into Fir Tree Road will be closed for cabling work.
  • The northbound right turn from the A217 into Bolters Lane will be closed for the duration of the scheme.
  • The southbound right turn from the A217 into Fir Tree Road will be closed for the duration of the scheme.

Right turn ban Burgh Wood

For safety, so traffic can't 'rat run' we are imposing a right turn ban in and out of Burgh Wood during these works.
