We inspect the trees near roads and pavements on a three or five year cycle. Trees on higher priority roads are inspected every three years. Trees on lower priority roads are inspected every five years.
High and low priority routes
We have 17 high priority routes.
We have 11 low priority routes. These are split by our 11 boroughs and districts.
Our programme of works
If our tree inspectors find a tree that has a problem which may place you at risk they make a record of the tree and give it a score out of five. Our tree inspectors don't make a record of trees with no defects.
Five is the highest score. If a tree is given a five we ask our tree contractors to carry out work on the tree within 60 days.
If a tree is given a score of four we ask our tree contractors to carry out work on the tree within 12 months.
Trees given a score below four are recorded and monitored only.
Tree emergencies are managed through our emergency response crews. They are coordinated through our call centre. Please call 0300 200 1003 to report an emergency.
You can also report a problem with a tree or vegetation online.
