Our road network is one of Surrey's most valuable assets and must be managed and maintained as cost-effectively as possible.
Roads are vital for keeping both local and national economies strong, and they provide all of us with the means to get around, both for business and for pleasure. We therefore have to make the most of what we have and make sure that the surfaces of our 4800km (3000 miles) of road last as long as possible.
With limited funding available, preventative maintenance is a relatively cheap, quick and efficient option for helping to provide a well-maintained and safe road network.
Preventative treatments increase the lifespan of the road in much the same way that preservatives increase the life of woodwork.
