The Department for Transport (DfT) provides capital funding for Highway Maintenance using a needs-based formula based on the highway assets each local authority is responsible for.
Additional funding is also made available for authorities who can demonstrate that they take a risk based whole lifecycle asset management approach to their highway maintenance programmes. A copy of our asset management strategy can be found on the roads and transport policies and plans webpage.
